A Mediterranean Dream: Exploring the Seas Aboard Oceania Riviera from Trieste to Athens

Some trips are special, and then there are those that transform into lifelong memories. Sailing aboard the Oceania Riviera from Venice to Athens on June 27, 2024, was one of those unforgettable experiences. From the breathtaking Mediterranean vistas to the luxurious atmosphere of the ship and the world-class dining, our journey exceeded all expectations.

Day 1: Embarkation in Enchanting Trieste
We decided to arrive in Trieste the evening before embarkation, eager to explore this charming city before setting sail. Strolling through the streets, we stumbled upon Calzature Malvestiti, a historic shoe shop that’s been around since 1898. With over 120 years of Italian craftsmanship, it felt like stepping into a living museum. The family running the shop shared incredible stories about their history, and we marveled at the handmade footwear on display alongside antique machinery.

That evening, we enjoyed a traditional Italian meal in a cozy local restaurant—fresh pasta, artisan breads, and divine wine. We spent the night at Victoria Hotel Letterario, where we were treated like royalty, with every need taken care of before our adventure at sea began.
The next morning, stepping aboard the Oceania Riviera was like entering a world of luxury. From the grand staircase to the elegant lounges, the ship exuded sophistication. Our veranda stateroom was a haven of comfort, with a private balcony offering stunning views of the ocean—a perfect start to our Mediterranean adventure.
